Karen spent several decades as a potter, and was one of the long-time owners of Santa Cruz Pottery in Santa Cruz, California. She retired to to the Big Island 21 years ago and found inspiration working with concrete and making sculptures and vessels that echoed the feeling of the surrounding lava. She uses fabric and local plant material to add structure and texture to her work. Karen was one of the original founders of Paradise Studio Tour, and this is her 17th year on our board of directors! We are so grateful for everything she’s done for our organization.
